This master showman did
not just play the piano, but staged elaborate “events” in which the piano (and
other instruments) was played; a prop.
There is a big difference between the two — just playing and performing
— and Liberace set the standard in post-war America (and throughout the world
for that matter).
Included in here are six
“shows” from the mid-1950s (1954 – 1956): “Christmas Special” (1954) “Ladies
Night” (1955), “Musical Shopping Tour” (1955), “Fan Favorites” (1955), “New
Orleans Special” (1956) and “The Orchestra Steps Out” (1956).
Plus Film Chest has
included the 1965 “Mother's Day Special,” plus three bonus classic TV shows
from the period in which Liberace appeared — “You Bet Your Life: The Secret
Word is Hat” (1950 ), “The Jack Benny Show: Liberace Show” (1954) and “The
Easter Seal Teleparade of Stars” (1955).
