Well Go U.S.A. Will Release Aussie Filmmaker Zak Hilditch's These Final Hours On DVD And Blu-ray On May 12

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
James (played by Nathan Phillips — Wolf Creek, Chernobyl Diaries) is a bit of an ass.   He has abandoned Zoe (Jessica De Gouw), his pregnant, unmarried girlfriend to go to a “party to end all parties.”

That’s the opening hook to Aussie filmmaker Zak Hilditch’s These Final Hours, which has been given a domestic release date of May 12 for both DVD and Blu-ray editions by Well Go U.S.A.

You can understand the fix that James is in as the world is about to come to an end.   Some are killing themselves, some pray, others party, but for James his coping mechanism is to go walkabout.   Which is appropriate since he lives in Perth on the west coast of Australia.   It’s overwhelming … the world is toast and everyone will be dead in the next 12 hours (or so) and those in Perth are likely to be the last to go (luck of the draw).

Chaos reigns in the streets and no sooner has our boy headed out to party when he comes across a pair of thugs who have strong-armed a girl into submission and plan to have their way with her.   After all, what does her rape and murder matter … they will all be dead in just a matter of hours anyway.

Dead or not; consequences or not … it’s not right.   He takes them on, kills them and rescues her and sets in motion an end-of-the-world quest to reunite her with her family.   It is not what he planned, but there you have it.

This will be an odd journey that will take him to the party (at his other girlfriend’s place — this guy gets around) and the strange and surreal will become stranger as the end draws near, his quest consumes and his fate will bring him full-circle to what really matters as the world ends.

These Final Hours is a well-crafted Aussie apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that will draw you in even though the end is clear from the get-go.  There will be no rescue; no survivors … it is James’ journey that keeps you focused to the task at hand.
