As genre fans can tell
you — from endless hours of X-Files viewing — “The truth is out
there.” But suppose, just suppose, that
everything you know about “the truth” is wrong.
That’s the premise in
writer/director Greg A. Sager’s Gray Matter, which will be making
its DVD debut on June 26 courtesy of Indican Pictures.
The recurring image of
alien visitors that have been in our common culture since Roswell — large
heads, big eyes and sinewy bodies — are, as it turns, out real. They are all called “Grays,” and they have
been active since the post-war period (the arrival of the nuclear age) on our
planet … watching us and learning about us.
In Sager’s Gray
Matter, there are sinister extraterrestrials, those who would do us
harm; destroy us. They just need the
final components of a viral mix to set things in motion to wipe out humanity in
one fell swoop and claim the bright blue marble for themselves. The waiting game is about to end when a
strange meteorite comes crashing to earth at a remote farm … it contains the
final piece in the puzzle.
But, and this is
important for our survival, there are also friendly “Grays” who have been
studying us and watching over us. They
mean us no harm and are ready to defend the earth against their mortal enemies.
If you have a large alien
head, with big eyes and a sinewy gray body, unless it is Halloween, you can’t
just go wandering the streets without being noticed. To get around this, the “Grays” have been
abducting human beings for decades — taking over our bodies and using humans as
proxies — avatars — to accomplish their various missions.
As the story unfolds, the
most important “abduction” of all is about to take place and the fate of all
mankind depends on one human standing against an alien invasion. Annabelle (Alys Crocker — ABCs
of Death 2, Tormented, Almost Adults, etc.), a normal young woman, is
randomly chosen (wrong place, right time sort of thing) to become the kick-ass
defender of mankind, complete with a laser blaster … her mission is to stop the
evil aliens from assembling the ultimate bio-weapon.
It won’t be easy as the
bad “Grays” do a little abducting of their own and send their zombie-like
minions at her, including a topless club pole dancer (Tara Elizabeth), in ever
increasing numbers. With the earth in
the balance, no punches are pulled and if you just happen to wander into the
middle of this battle for the planet you are likely to get vaporized!
