Taylor Sheridan began his
acting career over two decades ago with episodic TV series appearances and the
occasional indie movie. He could have
aged gracefully and become what is called a “character actor,” but instead he
used the acting gigs to learn the business from the ground up.
Unless you’ve been paying
attention to his non-acting moves, it might come as something of a surprise
that his screenplays include Sicario, Hell or High Water, Wind
River and Sicario: Day of the Soldado!
When you deliver four hits in a row, including an Oscar nomination for
Best Original Screenplay (Hell or High Water, which was also
nominated Best Picture), the entertainment world suddenly opens up to you.
The first opportunity
that presented itself was Yellowstone, a series starring Kevin
Costner as the sixth generation patriarch of the Dutton family … a family
facing outside changes to their way of life as Wyoming ranchers.
He produced, wrote it and
directed all nine episodes of the series first season. It was a hit — already renewed by Paramount
for a second season!
Paramount Home Media
announced this past week that Sheridan’s Yellowstone: Season One will be
available on Dec. 4 as both double-disc DVD and Blu-ray product offerings. Details relating to bonus features are
still being worked out.
In other TV-on-DVD series
release news this week, Paramount Home Media will be teaming up with CBS Home
Entertainment on Dec. 11 for the three-disc, 13-episode launch of Instinct:
Season One.
Adapted from writer James
Patterson’s “Murder Games” novel, Instinct stars Alan Cumming (The
Good Wife) as Dr. Dylan Reinhart, a former CIA operative-turned-college
professor, who is recruited by Det. Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic) of the NYPD
to help solve a serial murder case. Why
Dr. Reinhart? Well, it appears that the
killer is using a book that he wrote as a blueprint for his killing spree!!!
