Dark Side Releasing Picks Sept. 17 For The Blu-ray Debut Of Lonely Hearts

They were looking for love in all the wrong places … and damned if they didn’t find it.
Dark Side Releasing, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has selected Sept. 17 for the Blu-ray debut of Lonely Hearts.

Brit filmmakers Jessica Hunt and Sam Mason-Bell (Industrial Animals, Toxic Schlock, Halloween Hell Night) have teamed up for this fiendish trip to a quiet spot in the English countryside for the taping of what, on the surface, appears to be one of those reality dating shows.   The location is a camp-land like environment, with cameras set up all over the place to capture the action, which will be provided by five “contestants.”

These five lucky strangers will be encouraged to bond, form relations, be spontaneous and compete against each through various tasks or challenges set out for them.   A grand time will be had by all … complete with an impromptu skinny-dip in the local pond, nighttime rendezvous, threesomes and more in your neighbor’s tent — all under the watchful eye of the all-seeing cameras. Erotic, sexual, comedy … and more!

Take, for example, your love-seeking vicar by the name of Donny (Martin W. Payne — Toxic Schlock, Christmas Slay), he’s clearly out of his element, passed his prime, a little on the heavy side, but there are three women and only one other male contestant … he likes his odds of finding a little love and romance.

What Donny, Fred (Chris Wells), Kristy (Tyne Stewart), Claire (Alice Mullholland) and Carol (Sue Dawes) don’t realize is that their host, Patricia (Sophie Atkinson) — and her small crew — are filming “meat puppets,” little tasty treats caught on video who don’t realize that game show is just an excuse to round-up an unsuspecting victim pool.

The tension mounts, the impending doom draws near and all the while the five enjoy those late night encounters … yummy!   Hey, it gives new meaning to “survivor.”

Bonus features for Lonely Hearts include commentary from co-writers/co-directors Jessica Hunt and Sam Mason-Bell, 4 “behind-the-scenes” featurettes and a collection of short films from Hunt and Mason-Bell.
