MVD Entertainment Group has targeted Mar. 17 for the
next wave of classic television interviews conducted by David Susskind between
1958 and 1986.
The first up is David
Susskind Archive: I Was a Hitman for the Mafia,
which was first broadcast on June 11, 1973 and features the confessions of a
Mafia hitman (identity is hidden), who was the co-author of a 1972 best-seller,
“'Killer: The Biography of a Mafia Hit Man.”
During the course of the interview, “Joey the
Hitman,” outlines how he killed 38 people, 35 under contract and three as
“revenge” killings against those who tried to have him whacked. Chilling in detail.
Of note, the identity of the hitman was finally revealed
in 1982 when he was killed by a shotgun blast in San Mateo, California. His name was Max Kurschner, the brother of a
New York City police officer, who at the time of his death was credited with
murdering 53 people … which means, following the David Susskind interview
session in June of 1973 Max Kurschner, or “Joey the Hitman,” would go on to
kill another 18 people!!!
Next up is the Feb. 1, 1976 presentation of David
Susskind Archive: Howard Hughes The Watergate Connection,
which features a panel discussing the possible connection between Howard Hughes
and the infamous Watergate affair that ultimately brought down president
Richard Nixon. The panel includes New
Yorks Times columnist and Pulitzer Prize-winner J. Anthony Lukas, who had just
written, “Nightmare: The Underside of the Nixon Years,” Hank Greenspun of the
Las Vegas Sun and former chief counsel on the Senate Watergate Committee, Terry
Lenzner.
The third broadcast arriving on DVD on Mar. 17 from
MVD Entertainment Group is David Susskind Archive: Gay Rights
Pro And Con, a 1982 broadcast featuring the
likes of Jesse Lee, Pastor, Neighborhood Church, Dr. William Marra, Professor
of Philosophy, Fordham and Rabbi Yehuda Levin, Family Defense Coalition in
debate with Matt Foreman, Dignity New York, David Rothenberg, Executive
Director of the Fortune Society and Tom Stoddard, Executive Director Lambda
