Mill Creek Entertainment announced its first wave of
Blu-ray releases that will be available for consumers to collect and savor during
the month of May … and this first wave is a stunner!!!
Not only is there another full collection from the
wildly-popular Ultraman
series, but Mill Creek has two new Blu-ray gems from “BBB” filmmaker Andy
Sadaris … all streeting on May 12.
Ultraman Ace: The Complete Series, a
six-disc collection, is the latest to be made available as a result of Mill
Creek Entertainment’s monster output deal with Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd,
which was announced last summer.
Fans have already been given access to Ultra Q:
The Complete Series (Oct. 14), Ultraman:
The Complete Series (also Oct. 14), Ultraman
Geed: The Series + The Movie (Nov. 19), Ultraman
Orb: The Series + The Movie (Nov. 19) and Ultraman
X: The Series + The Movie (available Apr. 21).
Ultraman Ace is a
52-episode cycle, the fifth installment in the series chronologically-speaking,
that aired over the course of a full year, beginning in March of 1972 and
wrapping up the following April.
Yapool, from another dimension, unleashes a series
of attacks on Earth using bio-monsters that are called “Terrible-Monsters” by
the EDF (Earth Defense Force) … Verokron is the first, and things look
desperate for the planet, this just might be the end of mankind.
But wait, a most unlikely pair, Seiji Hokuto (Keiji
Takamine) and Yuko Minami (Mitsuko Hoshi), are killed in the first wave, but
are brought back to life and become the powerful Ultraman Ace when they “fuse”
together using the gift of “Ultra Touch.”
But will Ultraman Ace be enough to stop Yapool’s evil plans?
Ultraman Ace: The Complete Series, 22
hours worth of non-stop action, presented with its original Japanese language
track, complete with English subtitles … and with Digital Copy!!!
Also on May 12 are the next two editions to be
released on Blu-ray that are plucked from the classic Andy
Sidaris Collection of “Bullets, Bombs and Babes”
films.
Beginning in April of last year, Mill Creek
Entertainment has been giving Sidaris fans all they could hope for … Blu-ray
editions of all of his famous action films, featuring former Playboy and
Penthouse centerfolds.
Thus far we’ve been treated to Hard
Ticket to Hawaii (Apr. 16), Malibu
Express (Apr 16), Picasso
Trigger (July 9), Savage
Beach (July 9), Do or Die
(Sept. 17), Guns
(Sept. 17), Fit to Kill (available
on Mar. 17) and Hard Hunted (also
available on Mar. 17).
This fit-to-die-for collection of Sidaris action
classics will be joined by the 1993 release of Enemy
Gold, which was directed by Andy Sidaris’ son,
Christian, and stars Playboy’s 1992
“Playmate of the Month,” Suzi Simpson as agent Becky Midnite, who is
double-crossed after she — and her fellow agents Chris Cannon (Bruce Penhall —
Sidaris regular, beginning with Picasso Trigger and
eventually appearing in eight of the “BBB” films) and Mark Austin (Mark
Barriere) — make a big drug bust.
Who double-crossed them? But, wait, the trio, while on administrative
leave, have uncovered a cache of Civil War gold, which doesn’t solve their
problem, it old makes things worse.
Santiago (Rodrigo Obregón) wants revenge for the
drug bust and now with the incentive of a fortune in gold, Becky Midnite must
die!! He dispatches his own personal
“hit lady” to take care of it, Jewel Panther (played by none other than Julie
Strain). It’s all out war, but Becky
has a secret weapon!!
The other Sidaris BBB classic making its way to
Blu-ray on May 12 is the 1994 direct-to-video release of The
Dallas Connection, which reunites Santiago and
Jewel Panther, along with agents Cannon and Austin, with the new shapely
additions of Wendy Hamilton as Scorpion and Julie K. Smith as Cobra.
Both Enemy Gold and The
Dallas Connection feature Digital Copy.
