With all of the studios shut down, in terms of new
theatrical releases flowing into theatres nationwide, it falls to the creative
talent and the depth of the respective film and television libraries at each of
the “Hollywood” studios to come up with exciting promotions to keep things
going.
The “Paramount Presents” line of Blu-ray releases
speaks for itself. Augmenting those
collectible Blu-ray product offerings are deep catalog promotions and selective
“Anniversary” promotions.
This week’s news is from the “Anniversary” side of
the ledger with the July 11 Blu-ray release of writer/director Amy Heckerling’s
legendary high school comedy, Clueless: 25th
Anniversary Edition.
Alicia Silverstone absolutely shines as the
ever-resourceful Cher, with the inspired casting of Dan Hedaya as her attorney
father who tries his best to keep up with his daughter … but it is a hopeless
cause. He also has the best line of the
move, “Anything happens to my daughter, I got a .45 and a shovel, I doubt
anybody would miss you.”
Others in the cast include the late Brittany Murphy,
Paul Rudd, Stacy Dash and Wallace Shawn.
Bonus goodies include a “Clue of False” trivia game,
plus seven featurettes — “The Class of ’95,” “Creative Writing with
Writer/Director Amy Heckerling,” “Fashion 101,” “Language Arts,” “Suck ‘N Blow:
A Tutorial,” “Driver’s Ed” and “We’re History.”
