Wild Eye Releasing, with sales and distribution
expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has an interesting horror
anthology heading to the DVD marketplace on July 14.
This would be debut of The Black
Cat, which features three different “tellings”
of Edgar Allen Poe’s 1943 Saturday
Evening Post short story, “The Black Cat.”
The tale of a horrible drunken rage, the pain inflected on a pet cat and
all that follows makes for a chilling tale.
Of note, this is the fourth installment in the P.O.E. film
series — P.O.E.: Poetry of Eerie, P.O.E.:
Project of Evil and House of
Ravens.
Filmmakers Domiziano Cristopharo (The
Obsessed, Doll Syndrome, Virus: Extreme Contamination),
Brace Beltempo (The Carpenter’s House) and
Chris Milewski (A Taste of Phobia, Drive-In Grindhouse) each
tackle the story in a different way, which makes for a very interesting horror
film.
Each of these “Black Cat” segments is like a
stand-alone short film; an interpretation of Edgar Allen Poe’s classic short
story — Cristopharo’s segment is the more descriptive of the group, House of
the Black Cat, Beltempo’s contribution goes
simply by Black, and
finally, Milewski’s installment is titled Insomnia.
