Mill Creek Entertainment Readies The Blu-ray Double Feature Release Of The Watcher And The Skeleton Key For Delivery On Aug. 17

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Mill Creek Entertainment has been delivering double-features on Blu-ray for some time now and this has become very popular with consumers, so it came as no surprise that Aug.17 will be the street date for the next Blu-ray double-bill.

This time out we get director Joe Charbanic’s 2000 serial killer thriller, The Watcher, starring Keanu Reeves as David Allen Griffin, a super-smart murderer of women, and James Spader as Joel Campbell, a former FBI agent, who “retired” when his mental health failed him over his guilt from not being able to catch Griffin.

Not only is David Allen Griffin out killing young women again, but he misses the thrill of Campbell chasing him, so he moves to Chicago — where Campbell now lives — and taunts him, catch me if you can!!

Now that you are on edge from this creepy cat-and-mouse murder game, Mill Creek Entertainment’s second feature on this Aug. 17 Blu-ray double-bill is none other than Iain Softley’s 2005 haunted house thriller, The Skelton Key, starring Kate Hudson as Caroline Ellis, a care-nurse who takes a job at a remote “Plantation House” in Louisiana.

Her job seems simple enough, help Mrs. Devereaux (Gena Rowlands) take care of her stroke-ridden husband, Ben (played by John Hurt).   Soon, Caroline begins to suspect that Ben’s condition is no accident and starts to investigate.   But there is a double-game afoot and she may have been recruited specifically to be the next victim … very creepy!!
