Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced this past week that the directing ensemble of Gerald Potterton, John Bruno and John Halas’ 1981 animated sci-fi fantasy, Heavy Metal, will be arriving on Apr. 19 as a newly-minted 4K Ultra-HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack.

Bonus goodies included with this limited SteelBook presentation include the newly-prepared featurette titled “Heavy Metal: A Look Back,” plus the companion Blu-ray disc includes documentary filmmaker Jeffrey Schwarz’s 1999 film, Imagining Heavy Metal, the original “rough cut” of the film with commentary by Heavy Metal 2000 screenwriter Carl Macek, a deleted scene and an alternate framing story (with commentary).

As an extra “bonus,” the directing team of Michael Coldewey and Michel Lemire’s 2000 animated film, Heavy Metal 2000, is included in the package as Blu-ray presentation.
