Mill Creek Entertainment announced this past week that auteur filmmaker Brian De Palma’s 2006 neo-noir murder mystery, The Black Dahlia, will be returning to the Blu-ray marketplace on July 12.
Initially released theatrically in the post-Labor Day period (Sept. 15), the film transitioned to the home entertainment packaged media release on Dec. 26 (DVD only). It was subsequently release on Blu-ray Sept. 7, 2010 and has been out of print for some time now.
Based on James Ellroy’s novel — the story of the unsolved Elizabeth Short murder of Jan. 15, 1947 — Josh Hartnett and Aaron Eckhart on are the case, with co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Hilary Swank … and Mia Kirshner playing the role of Elizabeth Short.
