Liberation Hall, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, will be delivering a DVD edition of the Sarah Vaughan’s 1985 Stamford Center for the Arts concert home on Friday, Nov. 18.
This will be the second installment in the company’s newly-launched “Great Women Singers” line of DVD products.
Titled simply, Great Women Singers: Sarah Vaughan, this is the first time that this classic concert, featuring an eleven-song set (a little more if you count the mid-concert “Gershwin Medley” (“But for Me,” “Our Love is Here to Stay” “Embraceable You” and Someone to Watch Over Me”) as four (but who’s counting, it’s four-time Grammy Awards-winner Sarah Vaughan!!
Backed by George Dafney on the piano, bassman Andrew Simpkins and Harold Jones on drums, Sarah Vaughan delivers “Be My Love,” “Just Friends,” “Poor Butterfly”, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” and “To Say Goodbye” … the “Gershwin Medley” … and then tops the evening off with “East of the Sun,” “Here’s That Rainy Day,” “There will Never be Another You,” “Misty” and “Send in the Clowns.”
