Paramount Home Entertainment announced this past week that auteur filmmaker Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film masterpiece, Pulp Fiction, will be getting a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack release on Dec. 6.
In its well documented history, Pulp Fiction was a pre-Reservoir Dogs concept, but in a somewhat different form. With the success of Reservoir Dogs (and Tarantino’s script for True Romance), suddenly Tarantino was able to focus on perfecting the script; the concept.
The result was stunning, and in any other year Pulp Fiction would have been the Best Picture Oscar-winner (well, maybe not, when you considered what happened to Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood … it was Parasite instead, the Academy’s little joke … the “middle finger” — so-to-speak — to Tarantino), but it 1993 Pulp Fiction was pitted-against Forrest Gump … and, The Shawshank Redemption. What a year!!
It is rare indeed that nearly 30-years all three films are still watchable … some films fade over time, but Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump are as vibrant today as they were when first released in 1993.
As to bonus goodies, the 4K Ultra HD presentation includes an “Enhanced Trivia Track,” plus two vintage featurettes — “Not the Usual Mindless Boring Getting to Know You Chit Chat” and “Here are Some Facts on the Fiction.”
The companion Blu-ray disc comes loaded with additional archived materials, including deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes montages and an extensive photo gallery.
