Bayview Entertainment Readies The Blu-ray Debut Of Writer/Director Michael Kuciak's Death Metal For May 30

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Bayview Entertainment has tabbed May 30 as the street date for the Blu-ray debut of writer/director Michael Kuciak’s headbanging horror tale, Death Metal, starring Nico Zahniser (Banger, The Reliant) as Ivan, the lead guitarist of Abyssinister, a death metal band who desperately needs a hit to remain relevant.

The band’s latest tour was nothing short of a disaster and something of a crossroads has been reached.   Give it up or make one last attempt to get back on track … they choose to retreat to a remote farmhouse to record their new album and Ivan has come up with sure-fire winner, “The Devil’s Concerto.”

Filmmaker Michael Kuciak, the producer of the Blast Furnace Media Interview Series and such films as All for Nikki and Killer Party, elected to go all in for this music-themed horror tale.

Not only producing, but directing, Kuciak didn’t want to just go through the motions with death metal music and how it would be a “killer” in his film.   He recruited Kyle Severn of New Jersey’s very own death metal group, Incantation, as a technical adviser and to that end Severn put the word out that bands were needed for the real-deal in the film.   The groups you see on stage throughout Death Metal are the likes of Blackfinger, Faithxtractor, Embalmer and Shed the Skin, along with a special guest appearance by Incantation.

The great irony for Abyssinister and Ivan is that his new composition is a real killer hit.   It’s cursed and audiences rocking out to “The Devil’s Concerto” and driven mad, literally!!

Kuciak’s Death Metal took the film festival route to its Blu-ray debut on May 30, piling up wins at the Chicago Indie Film Awards (Best Horror Film), the LA Independent Film Channel Festival and multiple awards at the Film Basement Horror Film Awards.   Come for the music … stay for the horror, perhaps you’ll get out alive!
