That was clever. You have to give Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment credit for not stepping on the IMAX Barbie event and holding off on the official home entertainment packaged media launch of writer/director Greta Gerwig’s smash hit starring Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood’s Margot Robbie as Barbie and LA LA Land’s Ryan Gosling as Ken.
It is official now, fans enjoyed the film, turning into a celebration — a summer event — and now they can select from a full spread of physical media purchasing options (stand alone, DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD editions) on Oct. 17.
The ARR for that mid-October street-date Tuesday works out to 88 days and domestic box office receipts currently stand at a stellar $633.1 million.
Bonus delights, which are limited to the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray SKUs, include a half-dozen featurettes — “Welcome to Barbie Land,” “Becoming Barbie,” “Playing Dress-Up,” “Musical Make-Believe,” “All-Star Barbie Party” and “It’s a Weird World.”
