May the FARCE be with you … the immortal words of the legendary Fluke Starbucker!!
MVD Entertainment Group has a new 2K restoration (from the original camera negative) of writer/director Ernie Fosselius’ 1978 Star Wars “parody,” Hardware Wars, ready for fans to enjoy on Feb. 20 as a newly minted Blu-ray inductee into the company’s popular “Rewind Collection” library.
Shot on a micro-budget, this short film (just 13 minutes) became a classic. Even George Lucas became a fan … but a 13-minute Blu-ray release! Hmmmm, how does that work?
For genre fans, for fans of MVD’s “Rewind Collection” and for fans of all-things Star Wars, it works! But MVD has gone the extra mile, as with all of its “Rewind Collection” releases, and that is what counts … the care in presentation and all the bonus goodies make this a must-have on Feb. 20.
These include commentary by Fosselius, plus Hardware Wars: The Director’s Cut and a “foreign” version of Hardward Wars!
Just getting started. Also included is a 1978 video session with Fosselius and a pair of featurettes — “Hardward Wars Prequel” and “Hardware Wars Save Christmas.”
Stop the presses! There is more!! Also included are two addition parody gems, Fosselius’ 1980 send-up of Apocalypse Now, which is titled Porklips Now, and his 2009 remake of the Ed Wood sci-fi classic, Plan 9 from Outer Space, which he titled Plan 9.1 from Outer Space.
Plan on it. A double feature on Feb. 20, Star Wars topped off by MVD’s “Rewind Collection” Blu-ray release of Hardware Wars! Have plenty of popcorn and your favorite beverage handy.
