Paramount Home Entertainment has tabbed Mar. 4 as the street date for DVD and 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack editions of director Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II.
A trend perhaps? This marks the second major theatrical release in a row from Paramount to skip the Blu-ray format … Smile 2 on Jan. 21 is also configured as DVD and 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack product offerings only.
For the record, the ARR comes in at 102 days and the domestic box office take currently stands at $167.1 million.
A premium VOD window was launched on Dec. 24, which is 32 days into the film’s theatrical run. This gives the “Helper” community ten weeks to distribute their own Blu-ray editions of Gladiator II.
Bonus goodies include deleted scenes and a half-dozen featurettes — “A Dream that was Rome: Origins,” “What We Do in Life Echoes in Eternity: The Cast,” “In the Arena: Filmmakers,” “To Those About to Die, We Salute You: Combat,” “Building an Empire: Post-Production” and “The Making of Gladiator II.”
