Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will be delivering a full-spread physical media helping of director Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of Stephen Schwartz’s blockbuster stage play, Wicked (Part 1) on Feb. 4.

The ARR works out to 74 days and the domestic box office haul thus far is an impressive $443.9 million.

This is basically the first act of the musical (ending with “Defying Gravity”), with the second act set for release on Nov. 21 of 2025 and titled Wicked: For Good.   Keeping it from being leaked before its worldwide theatrical debut will be quite the challenge for Universal and producers Marc Platt and David Stone.

Planned for distribution on Feb. 4 are stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray selection, plus a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack purchasing option.

Universal opened a premium VOD window on Dec. 31, giving the “Helper” community seven full weeks to distribution their own Blu-ray editions of Wicked to unsuspecting fans.

As to bonus delights, there are two commentary options — one featuring director Jon M. Chu (In the Heights, Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me 2, etc.) and the second featuring the film’s stars, Cynthia Erivo (Luther: The Fallen Angel, Bad Times at the El Royale, Drift) and Ariana Grande (Don’t Look Up).

There are also deleted and extended scenes and four production featuettes — “Making Wicked,” “Welcome to Shiz,” “A Wicked Legacy” and “The Wonderful Wizard.”
