Back in 1969 filmmaker Paul Mazursky served-up Bob
& Carol & Ted & Alice, a story of four close friends, their
relationships (and needs) and the complications that can arise from such
things.
Now meet Stefano and Anna and Tony and Marina, lovers,
friends and on the cusp of making some life-changing decisions. Oh, yes, one little detail, they are gay.
On June 9, be on the lookout for Italian filmmaker Silvio
Nacucchi’s Beyond Love … that is the street date for its domestic DVD rollout
courtesy of Ariztical Entertainment.
Anna (Simona Molinari) and Marina (Jessica Resteghini) are a
loving couple who would like to take their ten-year-long relationship to the
next level by starting a family of their own.
The solution appears to be simple, they simply turn to their best friend
Stefano (Marco Gandolfi Vannini) and Tony (Graziano Scarabicchi) for a little
help, comfort and advice.
Soon the “simple” thing is, as with Bob & Carol & Ted &
Alice so many years ago, complicated.
Anna and Marina are at odds over who should be the birth mother (and
that’s putting stress on their relationship) and Stefano’s very obvious
solution of “sleep with a man,” gets him into hot water as well.
Beyond Love is a sweet little tale of just how complicated life
can get when close friends, well-meaning close friends at that, begin making
decisions — with all the best of intensions — that don’t work out so well.
Beyond Love on DVD is presented in Italian with English
subtitles and includes, as a bonus, a behind-the-scenes production featurette.
