Ariztical Entertainment
announced this past week that artist and director Ades Zabel’s cult German drag
stage comedy, When Edith’s Bells Ring, will be making its domestic DVD debut
on Friday, Nov. 10.
It began at the KRA
Theatre in Kreuzberg, Germany (a suburb of Berlin) back in 2004 and took on a
life of its own as Zabel staged a story about a Christmas reunion of old
friends (in drag) — with bawdy double-entendre jokes and sight gags — annually
for a dozen years before hitting upon the idea of reaching a wider audience by
filming it.
When Edith’s Bells Ring, which is great fun, is presented in German with
English subtitles.
