Mill Creek Entertainment
adds to the New Year’s Blu-ray festivities with a six-strong promotion of
priced-to-collect Blu-ray releases on Jan. 8.
Not only are the six
films being offered at just $14.98 each, but Mill Creek is putting together a
special Retro VHS packaging campaign around this early January package. Very cool packaging and at just $14.98 (and
that’s before discounts at retail) there are plenty of collecting opportunities
calling out to those with Christmas-season gift cards!
So let’s get to the
titles in this “Retro VHS” packaging promotion.
Remember, it’s all a
matter of personal taste, but let’s start with director J. Lee Thompson’s 1981
horror-themed mystery, Happy Birthday, starring a post-Little
House on the Prairie Melissa Sue Anderson (complete with shower scene)
as a member of an elite high school clique known as the “Top Ten” … who have a
habit of dying horrible deaths.
This is a twisted
thriller as genre fans enjoy both the slasher and sci-fi aspects, which is
neatly blended with a whodunit mystery … and there is a twist that is a gem!
Also on the horror front
is the 1982 mixed-genre thriller from director Michael Miller, Silent
Rage, starring Chuck Norris as a sheriff — skilled in martial arts —
who is up against an unstoppable killer (played by Brian Libby) as a result of
medical research tinkering.
Director Peter Yates’ 1983
sci-fi thriller, Krull, is included in the mix.
On the comedy front, John
Candy stars in director Paul Flaherty’s 1989 sleuth comedy, Who’s
Harry Crumb?, it’s sexual fun and party time in director Mark
Griffiths’ 1984 surprise hit, Hardbodies and Arnold Schwarzenegger
stars in John McTiernan’s big budget comedy, fantasy and adventure theatrical
hit from the summer of 1993, Last Action Hero.
Remember all six on
Blu-ray on Jan. 8 for just $14.98 each.
