One year ago — July of 2019 — Mill Creek
Entertainment announced that they has acquired the domestic distribution rights
to the entire Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd Ultraman
library. This distribution coup
included 50 years-worth of productions, which encompassed 20 feature films and
over 1,100 series episodes.
The first wave hit in October of last year with the
debut of both Ultra Q: Complete Series 01 and Ultraman:
Complete Series 02 as Blu-ray collections … Ultraman
Orb: Series + Movie, Ultraman Geed: Series + Movie, Return of Ultraman: The
Complete Series, Ultraman X: The Movie and
more, much more followed.
To celebrate one full year since the launch of this
iconic franchise on Blu-ray, Mill Creek Entertainment has tabbed Oct. 13 as the
street date for the next editions for fans to enjoy. This
series this go-around will be the 25-episode collection of Ultraman
R/B (which debuted on Japanese television in
July of 2018 as Ultraman Rûbu).
The action unfolds in the “Jōkamachi” (feudal style developed
in the 15th and 16th Centuries) city of Ayaka, which is
run by Aizentech. On the one side are
the orphan brothers Katsumi (Yuya Hirata) and Isami (Ryosuke Koike), who can
transform into Ultraman Rosso and Ultraman Blu.
On the other side is the Minato
clan, which are dominated by the alien Chereza … it is a battle to the death!!!
Included in the Ultraman R/B collection is the
feature-length movie, Ultraman R/B the Movie: Select! The
Crystal of Bond, which was released theatrically
in Japan in March of 2019. It is one
year later and the peace that Ultraman Rosso and Ultraman Blu brought to Ayaka
is now suddenly in danger as Tregear spirits Katsumi away, leaving Isami to battle
the menace of the Snake Darkness on his own (will help arrive in time).
The movie, Ultraman
R/B the Movie: Select! The Crystal of Bond, can
be purchased as a stand-alone Blu-ray on the same Oct. 13 date. Both the six-disc Blu-ray collection and
feature film include Digital Copy.
The Ultraman R/B
collection and Ultraman R/B the Movie: Select! The Crystal of
Bond are presented in Japanese with English
subtitles.
