There was no point in beating the dead horse. Writer/director Josh Boone’s end-of-the- X-Men film series, The New Mutants, will be arriving on Nov. 17 as stand-alone DVD and Blu-ray editions, plus there will be a Combo Pack presentation for the 4K Ultra HD (with Blu-ray) format.
20th Century-Fox moved the film around on its theatrical schedule and then finally released it at the end of the summer (Aug. 28) to what can only be described as under-whelming results. Just $22 million in domestic box office receipts on a reported budget of somewhere between $70 and $80 million (not counting P&A). That’s a pretty dismal end to the Marvel Entertainment X-Man franchise, but then everything in the 2020 theatrical exhibition marketplace has been dismal … time to move on.
For the record, the ARR is just 81 days.
As to bonus features, there are deleted scenes (seven in all) and a pair of featurettes — “Origins and Influences” and “Meet the New Mutants.”
