Full Moon Features, with sales and distribution support provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has set the Blu-ray debut of prolific filmmaker David DeCoteau’s 1993 “sci-fi” beach movie, Beach Babes from Beyond, for delivery to fans on Jan. 19.
A newly-remastered DVD edition will also be available on Jan. 19.
Take any of your Beach Party movies from the 1960s, you know the ones with Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon (Muscle Beach Party, Beach Blanket Bingo, etc.) and give them a little zip … voilà Beach Babes from Beyond.
Aliens — like from another world — by the names of Xena (Roxanne Blaze — Nothing to Hide II: Justine, A Blaze of Glory), Luna (Tamara Landry — Bikini Med School, Sexual Impulse, Beach Blanket Malibu) and Sola (Nicole Posey) go joy-riding and run out of go-go-juice and have to make an emergency landing on Earth … but of course that’s the laid-back beach scene of Beach Party lore.
They befriend surfing legend Uncle Bud (Joe Estevez
— The Roller Blade Seven, Soultaker, Toad Warrior) and
use their bikini designer talents to help him save his beach hangout.
Like we said, Beach Party, with a little zip. Well, make that A LOT OF ZIP!!!
