Full Moon Features Readies The Domestic DVD And Blu-ray Debut Of Klaus Kinski's Lover Of The Monster For Release On June 08

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Full Moon Features, with sales and distribution expertise provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has unearthed writer/director Sergio Garrone’s 1974 horror tale, Lover of the Monster, teaming Klaus Kinski once again with Katia Christine — the team of Kinski, Christine and Garrone also collaborated on The Hand That Feeds the Dead at the same time (back-to-back productions), which Full Moon released earlier this year.

Considered lost, Lover of the Monster will be available for first time in the domestic marketplace on June 8 as both DVD and Blu-ray product offerings.

Kinski plays Dr. Alex Nijinski, while the always lovely Katia Christine (Spirits of the Dead, Pussycat, Pussycat, I Love You, Riot in a Women's Prison, etc.) portrays his wife, Anijeska.   They’ve been having marital problems, so the solution is to retreat to her deceased father’s family estate in the country to patch things up.

It is here that Alex discovers Anijeska’s father’s hidden laboratory, where he had experimented on raising the dead.   It doesn’t take long for Alex to take up where dear old dad left off and in no time he manages to tap into his inner-rage, which has been the problem with their marriage for some time, and in doing so becomes a murderous monster.

The locals seem focused on blaming the riff-raff for the sudden string of brutal murders that follow, but slowly Anijeska begins to put two-and-two together … and that points to her husband as being the fiend.   Will she too become a victim of Alex’s rage?

To discover the answer, you will have to catch Lover of the Monster on either DVD or Blu-ray — uncut, for the first time — from Full Moon Entertainment on June 8.   For many genre fans this will be their first opportunity to view the film … it is presented in Italian with English subtitles.
