Darkside Releasing, with sales and distribution support provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has something just a little different to bring in the New Year with its planned Jan. 18 unveiling.
This would be the Blu-ray debut of writer/director Joe Bizarro’s Brides of Satan, which checks so many genre-fan boxes in the space of its swiftly-paced 82 minutes that one can become dizzy and disoriented just trying to keep up.
For reasons that seem a little odd, but you’ve got to get things moving, so why not have our “Brad and Janet” couple, Mary (Mindy Robinson — Live Nude Girls, All American Bikini Car Wash … as Phoebe in the Evil Bong movie series) and her boyfriend out for a kinky birthday celebration at the local strip club.
They get an eyeful of pole-dancing beauties, but before they can settle in for snacks and beverages the place is being robbed by three shotgun-totting punked-out babes, who we come to know as Sidney “Zero” (Malice McMunn — Appetites), Zoe (Rachel Rampage — Not for the Saving) and the leader of the pack, Brianna (played by adult film star and AVN Hall of Fame inductee Joanna Angel — Streets of Vengeance, The Last House, etc.).
Brianna takes an interest in the couple and decide to up the armed robbery to armed robbery and kidnapping. It seems a bit kinky at first, but Brianna has her reasons and soon enough, at a secluded warehouse, they are drinking the boyfriend’s blood and toasting Satan.
Let’s recap. In the first few minutes, we have pole-dancing hotties, gun-totting babes, kidnapping, a ritual slaying and poor Mary is next. Well, you can’t have that, it would be a short movie. There are gang members and all sorts of other things going on, but that becomes overwhelming.
In any case, Mary gets away and with that crowd of Satan-worshippers, sycophants and assorted gang-bangers, filmmaker Joe Bizarro delivers a hefty “victim pool” for the revenge-filled Mary to slice and dice her way through.
Bonus goodies include commentary from writer/director Joe Bizarro.
