Bayview Entertainment Sends The Horror Chills Home On October 04 With Project Skyquake And Dark Tales From Channel X

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey

Bayview Entertainment has locked into Oct. 04 for the Blu-ray debut of Hungarian filmmaker József Gallai’s sci-fi chiller, Project Skyquake.

Filmed in English in the bleak wintery landscape of his native Hungary, Gallai takes us on a creep-out journey related to a natural occurrence commonly known as “skyquakes.”   These are where loud and mysterious booming sounds are reported.   Think, stormy weather — without the rain — similar to the conditions just before a tornado begins to form and you’ve got the all the makings for Gallai’s eerie tale.

Hearing of some strange happenings in Hungary during just such a phenomenon, Cassie (Laura Ellen Wilson — Surprise, The Poltergeist Diaries, Chained, Monster) talks her friend, Margo (Laura Saxon), into going thre to have a look-see at the aftermath.   Even if the trip is a total bust, they can have some fun along the way … ROAD TRIP!!

Once there and a journey into the countryside, they experience a skyquake (rather, a series of skysquakes) first hand.   The fun and games soon turn to terror as the pair discover sinister happenings as people have literally vanished.  Where can they run … where can they hide from something that is seemingly all around them!!

Also heading home on Oct. 04 is the DVD debut of Dark Tales from Channel X, a feature-length horror anthology from the award-winning husband and wife filmmaking team of Lindsay and Manny Serrano.

Viewing short films outside of festival settings can be somewhat limited, so the Serranos have assembled a collection of their festival-winning short horror films into an Amicus-style feature-length film, complete with a newly filmed (and very inventive) connecting story.

Cassie (Michelle Nuñez — Ruthless), a babysitter, starts roaming around the house she’s at, which eventually leads her to the basement, where she finds an old analog TV set, which “magically” comes on … fascinated, she is drawn ever deeper into a series of jolting horror tales.

Among the seven-mesmerizing tales of horror that Cassie is “treated” to are Beneath, I Waited for You, Sleepless and The Au Pair.   Rounding out the terror in the basement are Knock Knock, M is for Mastectomy and Matryoshka.
