In the jungle, the mighty jungle … the lion hides his
eyes!!!
That’s right, there are half-naked women are on the prowl in
a jungle near you on Aug. 11 when VCI Entertainment delivers the DVD release of
Psychotronica,
Volume 4!
This classic “sexploitative” double-feature showcases the
curvaceous talents of German actress and songbird Marion Michael in Jungle
Girl and the Slaver, and Omoo (Jean Hawkshaw), Mona (Mary Ann Webb) and
friends battle ape-like men in the Ed Wood-wannabe 1958 jungle gem directed by
James L. Wolcott, The Wild Women of Wongo.
Jungle Girl and the Slaver is the sequel, yes a sequel, to Liane,
Jungle Goddess, which caused quite the stir in 1956 when a half-naked
golden-haired “woman of the wild” is found living with the Botos in the jungles
of Africa. It turns out that she is the
heiress to a vast fortune, but that doesn’t prevent her from enjoying her
jungle paradise.
How she doesn’t get burnt to a crisp in the tropical sun is
never fully explained, but with Marion Michael on view that question really
never pops to mind.
In the sequel, she has left Germany, returned to her home in
Africa and is promptly kidnapped by Arab slave traders. You can only imagine what plans they have for
this exotic beauty!!!
The co-feature of this jungle-themed double bill is The
Wild Women of Wongo and it is to jungle movies (or cavewomen movies,
take your pick) as Plan Nine From Outer Space was to sci-fi movies. And that’s the beauty of it.
Psychotronica, Volume 4 … it just doesn’t get any better than
this. So pop that corn and grab your
favorite beverage and enjoy this cult-status double feature on Aug. 11.
