Arrow Video, with
domestic sales and distribution support provided by MVD Entertainment Group,
has a new 4K restoration (from the original negative) of director Dario
Argento’s 1975 giallo thriller, Deep Red, ready for Blu-ray release
on Sept. 4.
Fans will have the choice
of viewing the 1976 English-dubbed theatrical version or the original
Italian-language presentation with English subtitles.
Bonus treasures include
commentary from Argento scholar Thomas Rostock plus an introduction to the film
from Goblin’s “prog” rock keyboard artist Claudio Simonetti, who provided the
music for the film (plus Argento’s Suspiria and Tenebre).
Other bonus nuggets
include five featurettes — “Profondo Giallo,” “Rosso Recollections: Dario
Argento’s Deep Genius,” “The Lady in Red: Daria Nicolodi Remembers Profondo
Rosso,” “Music to Murder For!” and “Profondo Rosso: From Celluloid to Shop.”
