When you are four films
into a theatrical franchise series and you pull in $67.8 million it goes
without saying that the series is, and remains, a hit!
Such is the case with
writer James DeMonaco’s The Purge series of films. The latest, which was announced for delivery
to the home entertainment marketplace on Oct. 2 by Universal Pictures Home
Entertainment, sees DeMonaco providing the script, with newcomer Gerard
McMurray (Burning Sands) taking over the direction.
Although the fourth in
the series, The First Purge, is a prequel and shows how the dystopian
horror night came to be, with this level of box office acceptance you can
expect to see additional entries in the series.
Until then, Oct. 2 —
which yields an ARR of just 88 days — brings fans of the series a three-SKU
helping of home entertainment products to select from. There will be a stand-alone DVD edition, a
Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and a 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack presentation as
well.
Bonus features include a
deleted scene and a trio of production featurettes — “A Radical Experiment,”
“Bringing the Chaos” and “The Masks of the First Purge.”
