Not since Run,
Lola, Run has there been a German film
where being light on your feet made all the difference between life and
death!
Such is the case with director Carolina Hellsgard’s
zombie- apocalypse thriller, Ever
After, which will be making its domestic DVD and
Blu-ray debut on Dec. 17 courtesy of Juno Films. MVD Entertainment Group will be providing
sales and distribution support.
For reasons that will be revealed as the narrative
progresses, the unlikely duo of milquetoast Vivi (Gro Swantje Kohlhof — Wir sind
die Flut) and zombie annihilator Eva
(Maja Lehrer — Wald),
have elected to abandon the safe haven of Weimar to make a cross country
odyssey to the city of Jena, the only strongholds remaining against the roving
zombie hoards (the result of a viral outbreak).
Based on Olivia Vieweg’s graphic novel, Ever
After, harkens back to the days of a divided
Germany (nice visuals of miles of restraining wire and guard towers) and in not
so subtle terms overlays the current Islamic “refuge” invasion onto the
proceedings.
Additionally, beyond
zombies we get some really strange creatures, perhaps mutants spawned by
the plague, including a strange woman (are those vines growing out of the side of
her head?) played by Trine Dyrholm (Psychosia, Queen of Hearts, Becoming Astrid,
A Royal Affair, etc.), who is just as creepy as the mindless flesh-eaters, but
perhaps far more dangerous.
Ever After is presented in German with English
subtitles.
