Bayview Entertainment did something really cool for
genre fans. They’ve teamed up with
Horrornews.net to launch a line of DVD products that will go under the “HNN
Presents” promotional banner.
The first of these will arrive on Sept. 1 as DVD
debuts.
The way the partnership works, Horrornews.net will
use its fan base and expertise in the subject of all things horror to recruit
filmmakers from all around the world to submit their films for
consideration. The pick of the crop
will be packaged and promoted for release to home entertainment marketplace
through Bayview Entertainment’s distribution network. Sounds like a win-win for all.
As Horrornews.net promotes it, they are looking for
films that are, “slasher, zombie, monster, found footage, apocalyptic, grindhouse,
torture, gore, vampire, suspense, etc.,” which sounds like a pretty rich
hunting ground to find indie filmmakers to deliver their latest cinematic
visions.
The first in the new “HNN Presents” program will be
from the filmmaking team of Christian Twiste & Geoffrey Ciani, with both
filling multiple roles in the production of Master
Pieces, which will be available, as mentioned, on
DVD this coming Sept. 1.
The pair share producing, directing and writing
credits, while Christian Twiste (who has a strong resemblance and acting
mannerism of a young Scott Bakula) stars in the film, Ciani also handled the
editing and cinematography.
It’s not their first rodeo, as they previously
teamed for the Edgar Allan Poe adaptation of Berenice in
2004 … Twiste is a computer programmer, novelist and semi-professional racecar
driver when not making genre films, while Ciani hosts the YouTube webisode
series of Wow Lynch Wow!
(over 3.4 million views dedicated to filmmaker David Lynch … among other
things).
As to Master Pieces, Christian
Twiste is, well, playing himself — or just “self” — and he is out of a job,
which his new bride, “The Wife” (Lisa Goulian) is constantly nagging him to get
out there and find something.
But our boy is content to spend his time calling into
a self-help radio program run by Dr. Brenda Dobbs (Tesia Nicoli), but is
constantly frustrated by the process.
Eventually he snaps from the frustration and goes on a murder spree …
or, maybe it is all in his mind.
Madness for sure, with a nifty blend of humor and gore, exactly what
genre fans adore.
Going internationally, the other film arriving under
the “HNN Presents” banner on Sept. 1 is Italian filmmaker Dario Almerighi’s Me and
The Devil.
Here we find Mario (Antonio De Nitto), who has lost
his fiancée in a tragic “accident” during their vacation together … as a result
his world devolves into a nightmarish world of visions and death.
Me and The Devil is
presented in Italian with English subtitles.
