Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Assigns November Street Dates For Justified: City Primeval (Nov. 14,DVD And Blu-ray) • Resident Evil: 6-Movie Collection 4K Ultra HD SteelBook (Nov. 21),

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey, @dvdblurayreport
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is out with a pair of new physical media announcements this past week.

First up, arriving on Nov. 14 as both double-disc Blu-ray and DVD collections is the return of Timothy Olyphant as U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens in the eight-episode mini-series, Justified: City Primeval.

A couple things about the revival of the popular Justified series.   First, as late as the end of August it was still up in the air as to whether the series would be renewed for a second season.   Without giving away the ending to episode eight, there was a big, big surprise that certainly sets up a second season … and perhaps more.

For now, we will call this an eight-episode mini-series.

Secondly, this F/X series did a two episode drop on July 18, but not the full series, which arrived weekly and reached its finale on Aug. 29.   This pattern is in response to blatant “helper” (pirates, bootleggers, etc.) activity.

Multiple sources have become extremely aggressive in dropping Blu-ray editions of complete series within hours of their arrival.  By stringing out the episodes, F/X was able to delay, but not deter the “helpers” from delivering Blu-ray editions of Justified: City Primeval beginning on Aug. 29.

In other release news from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, arriving on Nov. 21 will be a six-movie, limited 4K Ultra HD SteelBook edition of Resident Evil: 6-Movie Collection.

Included here are the six films in the Paul W. S. Anderson cycle: Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016).
