Mill Creek Entertainment
stunned the home entertainment marketplace this past week with news that two
highly sought after IMAX presentations will be available for the first time on
Dec. 11 as 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Packs.
The first of these is the
directing team of Stephen Judson and Greg MacGillivray’s Journey to the South Pacific,
which has been playing theatrically in special venues continuously since
November of 2013. Cate Blanchett serves
as the narrator on this journey to the exotic tropical depths around West Papua
of the island nation of Indonesia where we get up close and personal with whale
sharks, sea turtles, giant rays and truly mysterious sea creatures.
Bonus goodies included
with Journey
to the South Pacific are a making-of featurette and five webisodes.
Also on Nov. 11 as a 4K
Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack is documentary filmmaker Toni Myers’ A
Beautiful Planet. The film
opened in special theatrical venues in April of 2016 and has been playing
continuously since that date … raking in over $15 million in box office
receipts.
This out-of-this-world
view of our planet from the International Space Station is hosted by Jennifer
Lawrence and is nothing short of spectacular … mesmerizing!
Bonus goodies here
include a trio of featurettes — “An Extraordinary Vision,” “IMAX: Astronaut
