Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has elected to
open the New Year with a Jan. 7 home entertainment package media launch of
writer/director Justin Dec’s Countdown, a
demonic thriller … or is it just a scary tale about a cursed cell phone
app?
In any case, the clock is ticking
down to a death-day zero for nurse Quinn Harris (Elizabeth Lail), who
downloaded a quirky app to her cell phone, and now has just 72 hours to figure
out a way to stop it!!!
The ARR is a very quick 74 days and box office receipts
currently stand at $24.5 million.
Planned for release are a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and
a stand-alone DVD.
There don’t appear to be any bonus features, but
with that quick-to-market flip from theatrical venues to home entertainment it
could be that there are things in the works that didn’t make the press
announcement (stay tuned).
