In something of a
surprise move, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has elected to release Blu-ray
(both 3D and 2D SKUs) and DVD editions of director Marc Webb’s theatrical
blockbuster, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, not in the more lucrative post-Labor
Day period, but on Aug. 16.
The ARR is a relatively
quick-to-market 102 days and ticket sales currently stand at $198.4 million.
Bonus features include
commentary from filmmaker Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer, The
Amazing Spider-Man), deleted scenes (with commentary by Webb) and the
Alicia Keys’ music video, “It’s on Again.”
Exclusive to Blu-ray
viewing options are nine additional scenes and seven production featurettes.
